HI....i want to go to Daman with my frds...can any one suggest abt daman..how it is....how we have to spend. money...

Daman is a part of one of the union territory of India formally known as Daman and Diu. It is situated in the state of Gujrat and is a less well known tourist destination. It was under the control of Portugal from 1839 to 1961 and as a result has a lot of portugese architecture and culture. It may not have all the facilities that a tourist destination should have but has a few things that any tourist craves for. For eg. peace, friendly locals, beautiful places to see and overall gives a great and relaxing feeling. Local resorts and hotels are easily available and can be booked once in Gujrat which will have to be crossed to reach there. It is a must visit for its unique and hidden nature and will surely be worth the effort.

How to Reach

Through Railway:

         Nearest railhead is Vapi just about 12 Kms. Vapi is on the main railway line between Delhi and Mumbai. All major Express/Mail and Local trains stoppage are accessible at Vapi. Taxi Service is available between Daman & Vapi on charge per head basis. Other nearby railway head is Valsad Jn. just about 35 Kms.

  

Through Road:    

         Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Hihghway No. 8 connects Daman via Vapi. Some prominent distance:

   Mumbai - 193 Kms.

   Ahmedabad - 367 Kms.

   Diu - 763 Kms.

   Panaji (GOA) via Mumbai - 787 Kms.  

  Daman has excellent Rest House where accommodation on prior reservation is available to tourists. In Nani Daman and close Devka Beach, a good number of fine Hotels provide Boarding, Lodging offering both Veg. and Non-Veg. Indian and Chinese cuisine to the holiday - makers.

         Most of the hotels offer both Veg. and Non - Veg. Indian and Chinese Cuisine. Both A/C and Non A/C accommodation is available ranging from Rs.150/- to 2,000/- per day. Daman has a number of eating-houses, restaurants, fastfood and refreshment Stalls.

The amusement park on the Devka beach and Nani Daman rejuvenates and recreates the tourists. The illumination on festive days is a treat to the eyes.

The Jampore beach offers a very silent and serene atmosphere, an ideal place for 'solitude-hunters'. Other tourist places in Daman are Nani Daman Jetty Garden, old churches, forts, lighthouse and a summerhouse.

I have been there a couple of times.

I would advice u to take a beach side hotel. some hotels have private beach so that u can be there anytime and all time. You can have your morning tea at sea, go back to room for getting ready, come again to sea for a bath, go back to room to get dressed and come back for lunch by sea!

the bhimpore beach is worth visiting. It should be quit lonely so one can enjoy more. Do visit lake-side hotel in the evening for dinner.

Almost all hotels serve very good food. Miramar, Jajhira, Dariya-darshan among the best. The chowpatty is good for morning & evening stroll. Good liquor is available in all hotels. Vaibhav water park is also good for fun.

In short, just enjoy.
