  1. check to see if you have a goddard school in your area, goddards are the best!

  2. How about an agency?  I found a great agency in a parenting magazine;  my nanny has been with us for 1 1/2 years now.

  3. Go to your local craigslist and click on childcare.

  4. I wouldn't go to craigslist just because of all the child prostitution and slayings that have resulted from craigslist in the past year. It's bee on the news on cnn. One guy posted on craigslist for a caregiver for his child. He met with the woman, raped her killed her and left her in the trunk a car. Do you want strangers to know you have a one year old?

Do you have a relative you can trust. I hate to see you trust your little girl to an industry that has high employee turnover and low paid employees. I don't trust daycares even nice ones. I've been around them. Private nanny's are strangers too.  Try to work at home as much as possible and have a trustworthy compassionate relative watch her the rest of the time. Change professions if you have to. We live in a society that makes it hard for us to spend the necessary time to nurture our children and it's very sad. On top of that, most states have the lowest standards possible for caregiver/child ratio in day cares plus grocery store chain employees have better benefits and higher pay than daycare workers. That is a fact. So you're not exaclty getting the cream of the crop to watch your kid. Consider making some changes so you can spend more time with her and still have  a life. If you wish, email me directly and I will help you with some specific ideas.
