Whats the cost rules, and regulations.

I'm from America and Want to get a Dual citizenship in South Africa.

  1. Tha majority of the time, the only way you can have dual citizenship is if your parents were a citizen of one country adn you were born in another. Since you're already born it is too late.


  2. Dual Citizenship means retaining the present citizenship while acquiring a another citizenship.

    This situation entirely based on the citizenship acts of those countries and they are different to each other (just like the constitution)

    Some countries doesn't let the citizen to acquire another citizenship even if the other country accepts it.

    So best way to find out the answer  is to contact the embassies or Immigration web site of each country

  3. I can only answer this from an Australian perspective - dual citizenship is available to anyone who has parents from two different countries: eg Australia and Canada.  The children have dual citizenship automatically until they turn 18 then have to choose one.

    I think anyone with a British Passport can have an Australian passport if they are resident here.

    So for you, you'd need to speak with the South African embassy I guess to see what their requirements are.
