Can any one tell me everything there is to know about rugby?

my mum is getting me in a rugby team and i dont know anything about it i like football better tell me like all the names of the players in hull fc and whats the diference between rugby union and rugby leugue and the rules plzzzz!!

Its the best team sport I have ever played in my life, you will never rely on 14 other guys this much shy of the army.

Rules? to many to write down here but most are for your own safety I'll give ya the highlights.

Try=Touchdown 5 points

Conversion (kicked) = 2 points

Field Goal essentailly 3 points

Can't move the ball forward with your hands, you can kick it or run it. ball goes outabounds you normally get a lineout which is a really agressive version of a throw in in hoops or footy. There are some exceptions and i would have trouble explaining all of em.

When you tackle someone do it hard make it hurt but you have to wrap or at least try too. various penalties stop play and result in a scrum 16 guys and 2 extras face off and push eachother off the ball. thats where you wanna be try number 6 if your a football player.

Best advise......don't be afraid. tackle and run hard. injuries will happen, but it has always pushed me to do better. The best thing that you need is to be able to run for a long time. It is way cooler then football. i play linebacker and lock in rugby. You'll never be closer with your teamates the in rugby.  Goodluck, and have fun

The difference between league and union.

league has 13 men on a team and 4 reserves they have 6 tackles to get as far up the field but they can kick on the 5th tackle because ti they are caught in possession on the 6th it is a handover and the other team has got possession.

points are

try=4 points

conversion=2

penalty=2

field goal=1

union is more confusing because on what position you are going to play. you will have to watch a game and get someone to explain it to you can see. 15 men are on the field and 7 reserves.But unlike league once you are substitute you cant get back on the field(unless you are a prop and another front rower is injured)
