I heard that there are a number of boxes in places in England that can be found on nature walks or country walks.

Does any one know any thing about this? Why are they there and what are they called?

If you find one apparently you are suppose to put something in it! I don't know what you'd put in it or why.

Any ideas? I'm curious to find out! Thanks.

  1. You get them in bothys and on some remote walks in Scotland, they have emergency rations, blankets etc.  I think the idea is to take something to keep it going incase someone gets stuck in the snow or bad weather.  Not sure if this is exactely the same.

  2. I am thinking you mean the hidden post boxes.

I know there are some on Dartmoor and the Bird Island, the name of which I have forgotten, in the Bristol Channel.

  3. Do you mean geo-cashing? If so ,it's where someone puts a little souvenier for another to find, then the next person who finds it,takes it out and puts something else for the next person etc.

I think there are websites with co-ordinates to find the various things on country walks, but I don't know the name of the sites.Sorry. It's just a game, a bit like treasure hunting.
