  1. Whelan's on Camden St. is great for live alt and rock music.

  2. crawdaddy

  3. First answer is very out of date e.g. The Thing Mote has been gone for 3 or 4 years!

    I'd recommend Whelans & The Village (on Camden Street) maybe Eammonn Doran's in Temple Bar, Parvda (on the Quays)  There are loads of places really.

    Will give you daily listings of most happenings

  4. whelan's

  5. Fibber Magee's on Parnell St, Eamonn Dorans in Temple Bar, Bruxelles on Harry St, (some guy from Pantera was apparently in there recently, although that sort of music isn't always my scene so I can't confirm or deny that), and The Village on Camden St. But there are loads and loads of pubs, so ask around when you get here, there's always live gigs on.

  6. Bruxelles is a club/pub just off grafton street on Harry street which plays rock music/ heavy metal. it also has a pretty good atmosphere.

    i'd personally recommend Eamonn Doran's in temple bar for great music/ atmosphere and pizza!!

  7. I suggest  the following (courtesy of my pal Conor) which he posted on my Dublin guide:

        * Doyles, Fleet St

        * Hogans, Georges St

        * Temple Bar Music Centre

        * The Globe, Georges St (Can be very trendy but usually don't play euro pop/r&b c**p)

        * Thing mote (moet), Suffolk St

        * The Porter House, Parliament St (not very studenty but good beer and music)

    Have a look at the guide for info regarding nightlife and pubs also.

    Good luck!
