  1. The scientific theory is that the Universe started as a fluctuation of the vacuum. Such vacuum fluctuations make appear a small amount of energy, for a small time. This phenomenon is responsible for the existence of forces, that hold the Universe and matter together.

Normally the bigger the energy fluctuation, the smaller the time it is in existence.

Not so the Big Bang. That was a HUGE fluctuation. So big that a lot of energy came to appearance in the form of mass, elementary particles. These particles started expanding, before the vacuum could reclaim the energy.

And it is still expanding today. 14 billion years later.

There is already an overwhelming amount of evidence in support of the Big Bang theory. So much so that it wouldn't be easy to overturn.

However, it *is* a theory. If tomorrow we find a few facts that are incompatible with the theory as is stand, then the cosmologists have to look for another theory, that explains the new facts as well as the old.

There are problems with the Big Bang. It is based on General Relativity and the latter is incompatible with Quantum Mechanics in certain areas. So both GR and QM have to be incorporated in someting larger, better. That doesn't mean one of them is wrong, only that it is, somehow, incomplete.

  2. 1. There was nothing

    2. All matter that ever exists or existed appeared in a single infinitely small space.

    3. BOOOOM! exploded and the universe started expanding from that point.

(1,2,3) being snap shots of before, during, soon after of the universe :P

  3. To understand the big bang theory you need to understand the string theory. The string theory is that there are invisible strings flying around made up of pure energy, when they hit each other they create more energy. This is the primary theory of how the big bang happend, that so much energy got built up it exploded. The big bang theoryisn'tt a law because stringshaven't  been proven or any of the other minor theory's.

  4. the universe expanded from an extremely dense and hot state and continues to expand today. A common and useful analogy explains that space itself is expanding, carrying galaxies with it, like raisins in a rising loaf of bread. General relativistic cosmologies, however, do not actually ascribe any 'physicality' to space.

  5. The big ban is a theory that states that when the universe tarted, it was only a lot of hydrogen atoms. However, there were many, and they started making fusion (joining) and that liberated a lot of energy. Then, when enough heat was made, there was this explosion that sent all element (that were made beacuse of the fusion) into several parts of space, and stars and planets were made because of the elements being shot down into the rest of the universe.

  6. No it's not a law. Many people disagree with it. There is some evidence to suggest it, and many people want to make you accept it as fact. It's something that cannot be tested, because it happened in the past. so anyone that suggests that it is a law is not being scientific.

I'm not saying that I disagree with it.

  7. You need a book for that. It would take about half an hour to talk about it.

Pretty much it was at some point of time where a chemical reaction took place and created existence as we know it today.

Not necessarily the beginning of time, just that anything that happened before then does not matter because it did not affect existence after the big bang in any way at all.

  8. to big rocks crash head on with each other and then BIG BANG!

    :)
