I was playing pool with my brothers and I was wondering... did anyone ever sink all the balls in an opening break? I think its impossible to tell you the truth.

  1. I've never seen it done, and I'm skeptical about the video that's out there. There are a lot of variables, the most important being the rack itself. Unless all the balls are tapped in and there aren't any gaps (or at least they're in the same place all the time), then it's going to be impossible to try to figure out. But if someone is stubborn enough to do it, more power to them. There is also a video of Alex Pagulayan sinking 6 balls on a 9 ball break in a tournament . . . and then losing the game.

  2. I've done it with a 3-ball rack, but any more balls racked it gets astronomically more difficult.

Think of the power of 10.  For every ball you rack it is about 10 times more difficult to pocket all the balls in a break.  So for my 3-ball break the odds were about 1:1000.

For a 9-ball rack the odds are about 1 to 1 billion.  No player has every broken that many times to test those odds.

  3. While anything is possible, the odds of making 15 balls on the break, are negative-slim to none.

Breaking a 9 ball rack, increases the odds of making all 9 balls ---- slim to none.

I believe that pocketing all 9 balls on the break, is possible though I have never seen it done, nor heard of anyone accomplishing this feat----never mind pocketing 15 balls, on the break.

  4. No .there are some trick videos on you tube but just a trick with the cameras

  5. My father once told me that when they filmed the original movie, "The Hustler" with Paul Newman in 1961 that one of the pool players made all 9 balls on the break on film.

They didn't show it because supposedly the cue ball left the table.

To answer your question, I'd say its extremely slim chance that anyone would ever do it and you most likely never see it happen or know anyone that claims to have seen it happen either.

  6. anything i possible although i don't recall it ever happening.

  7. I have made 6 balls on a 9 ball break twice in my life, that is out of tens of thousands of breaks. there is a you tube video of someone sinking all nine, It looks authentic but I would have to see it in person to believe it. Your odds of making all nine on the break are probably well over one in a million, as for 15 on the break that would be astronomical or well over one in billion.

  8. Is it possible? Yes, but HIGHLY improbable. There are a lot of criteria that would contribute to making all of the balls on the break in either the 8 or the 9 ball format.

Is the cloth new or old and is it clean or full of hand powder? Are the balls new and pristine or old and dull with a lot of nicks in them? What size are the balls in relationship to the rails. What is the condition of the side rails in terms of their bounce? What's the temperature of the room? Is the air dry or damp? Is the table running fast or slow? What weight cue is being used to break with? Is the rack being broke from the side or head on?

Those are just some of the factors that contribute to ANY break where one, two, or maybe four balls are pocketed, much less a break making ALL of the balls.

  9. In my opinion , there could be a possibility in maybe one of trimillion matchs.  One player can achieve this perfect frame one time if he is lucky enough, but mostly it is hard to be.
