  1. I'm not sure if they still do this, but when Taksin was in power as the official prime minister, there was distribution of money to the poorest communities- mainly in the Isaan area.  This may account for Taksin's amazing ability to remain a powerplayer in Thai government.  Taksin also remains popular in the North because of his desire to modernize the poorest of areas- many of which to this day remain without running water or electricity.

Yes, the public hospitals are available to all Thai citizens- but the care can be shoddy and from what I hear, the waits to see an actual doctor can be insane.  Wealthier Thais almost never go to the public clinic places- instead opting for the best medical care at the private hospitals.

I'm not sure anout which family member is assigned as a medical advisor- for a child, I suppose it would most likely be the mother.

    Hope this helps

  2. Thailand is a third world nation which mean we don't have much money to waste on welfare system like the US. It is unlikely for the Thai government to able to give aids to all low income population. As you see, there are many homeless and beggers on the street of Thailand. As far as giving an advice, the elder gain more respect from the youth. Please take your child to a public hospital, you only pay less than $1 USD per visit.
