Can any wireless router work for the nintendo wi-fi connection?

Im looking into getting a wireless router to use nintendo wi-fi connection, but do I need a certain wireless router to play wi-fi?

  1. my internet any playstation used to be hooked up via a linksys wireless router. i don't know a whole lot about this subject but i am certin about this. on my ps3 we could just click connect and it would.


  2. You can use any wireless router, but what matters is what encryption you use when you set up the wireless router.

    If you have a DS and wish to play online, your wireless router's encryption will have to be WEP and nothing else.

    If you have a Wii, then the wireless router's encryption will have to be WEP or WPA (but not WPA2).

    Or no encryption/security at all but I would strongly advise you against that.

    Most modern routers support all of those so it's just up to you to set up your router right when you get it.
