Question:

Can anybody Charge my Bank Account?

I have been charged from a strange company for signing up their insurance policy... However, I would like to know how this works, what they did is they got my money directly from my bank account, so I did not receive any bills or anything like that, I just found out in the end of the month on my transaction list that they took that money. I was wondering if anybody could do that or if they have special permission to do that? This kind of worries me.

  1. insurance is usually direct withdrawal--at least mine is...but I had to sign paperwork when I started giving them permission to do that.  NO one can take money out of your account without your permission--you would have to sign paperwork authorizing an ACH.

  2. When you signed up for the policy, you had to give them certain payment information or they could not have debited your bank account.

If you don't believe you gave such permission, contact the company and ask for proof. If they can't or don't provide proof, contact your bank about a fraudulent charge made on your account.

However, make sure it is fraudulent before you make such an accusation.
