Can anybody explain to me why Hannah Montana, the Jonas Brothers and High School Musical are popular?

Seriously, I can't figure it out. I realize that all generations have had their embarrasing marks on pop culture trends. But these examples seem to bring out extreme fanaticism for no reason that i can ascertain. It even seems that they are popular amoung high school kids. They seem like the acts that elementary and middle school kids like not high school kids.

they all listen to that hip hop/rap **** or this pop **** or the emo stuff

I have never heard of any of those things, so, they must not be that popular.

Well, from what I understand, the Jonas Brothers have that pretty boy look.  My generation it was Hanson.  And as far as Hannah Montana...  well, she has daddy behind the scenes who is super motivated to get her out and keep her popular...   as her popularity increases, so does his...  I mean think about it, one hit song, a tv show that only had a small gathering, a few non chart topping songs here and there...   And in the last year or so with Miley's rise, he is becomming known again..  So, he has a lot of motivation to get her name out there into each household.

Because the media makes them popular. They are treated like little celebrities and kids feel like adults being able to read all the gossip about their little idols.

The tween population is spending alot of money on these people. I dont know why either, but hey whatever floats the boat.

The only thing I can figure, is that parents feel these musical influences are 'safe', so they encourage interest in them.

These are 'wholesome' acts, with no controversy, and that gives them an appeal that other popular music doesn't.
