I am looking to invest in a foreign company and the currency is labeled as "kr." Currently each share is 156 kr. I would like this to be converted to American dollars and know the current conversion rate as well as the formal name of the currency and what country, exactly, it is used in.

Thanks!!

  1. Well, what country is the company located in?

I think it is Swedish kronen (official name SEK) or can also be Norwegian (NOK)or Danish (DKK) they all use the abbreviation kr.

Can also be Cheh (CZK) or Icelandic (ISK), Slovakian (SKK)...

Once you know which is it you can convert here: http://finance.yahoo.com/currency

  2. Which country is that from? Kr is an abbreviation for Crowns in one of the Scandinavian languages. If you do not know the base country, you would be stuck with a few (DKK, SEK, etc). For investment purposes you might want to be more specific in learning about the base country.

You could start your search here to find the country and currency code:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_4217

When you discover which country and currency code it is, you may hop over to this currency exchange site. I prefer this as it can give me up to a year's history in currency pair exchanges.

All the best with your investments.

  3. i think you should get the answer from www.xe.com web site. all the best

  4. "kr" is the currency used in Norway. It is called the Norwegian Krone. 156 KR would be about 30.83 US dollars.

The exchange rate for the Norwegian Krone to US Dollars is 0.196232 per norwegian krone.
