Can anybody give me more reference about the construction & purpose of the pyramid of Giza?

I've learned lately that the pyramid of giza in egypt was not constructed to be a pharaohs' tomb. Instead, iit's an astronomical landmark. The fact that it was constructed in the ancient times, I'd like to know the definite date of it's existence hence I was having the notion that it was constructed during the time of moses as depicted in the movie the ten commandments.. I was wrong.
