  1. Suggest you buy a guidebook first and work out an itinerary that suits your interests and the time you've got in Italy.

  2. Look at your suitcase. Take half the clothes and Twice as much money. Make sure you eat gelato every day. Also the cappucino is to die for.  You can buy Venitian glass beads and Venitian masks for about half the price in the market place in Verona. Take guided tours as often as you can so you really understand what you are seeing. Safety pin all your zippers on your back pack to their sides so the Gypsy kids won't get into your pack when you are not looking. Pick pockets are rampant! Drink the water. It is better and purer than the bottled water. Really.

  3. :) i have just come back from a tour of italy, as an italian student and i found that the most amazing places would have been Venice, Rome and Amalfi. Florence is not far behind!

They are all full of things to do see and experiance. I would suggest Rome as a starting point becuase it has so many oportunities for you! If you start in Rome you can move up to Venice and experience the different. In Rome i would say to move through the city, dont buckle down at one spot, try new resturants and of course visit the iconic landmarks! Are you travelling alone? If not then Rome can be soo romantic, yet i would suggest Venice as a more romantic place. The nightlife in both of these cities in indescribable!!! Once you get there you will find that it's fairly easy to do things, the bus and train lines are fairly simple if you speak italian, and you dont need a particular pass, just purchase a ticket. Speak to the people that get you the tickets if you want hit's of where to go. Buy a phrase book, i suggest Berlits Italian Phrase Book and Dictionary - it will be your bible. Get's you thorugh everything! People in cafe's will most likely pick up that you are a tourist and therefore talk to you, they would be more than happy to tell you where to go and what to see, dont be shy, they dont bite :) Rememeber to have fun, dont stress if you miss something, flights and trains between the cities can be arranged quickly so if you change your mind it's not hard to find a train line. In fact, if you are indesicive on which cities you want to go then i highly reccomend booking train tickets through all the cities. That way you get a taste on everything and what it's like between the major cities. Well good luck, you will enjoy yourself so much! Wish i was going back :( have a safe trip xx :)

  4. Where to travel? Go to Rome, Pompeii, Sorrento, Capri, Florence (Firenze), Venice (Venezia).

    What to do/not to do?

1   Buy some good walking shoes and go everywhere on foot once you reach your destination.

2   Make eye contact with the drivers when you want to cross a road, otherwise they won't stop.

    3   Eat lots of gelato.

4   Eat lots of pizza that you buy by the kilo.

5   Read about the main tourist attractions before you leave home.

6   Gondola rides in Venice are 100 to 150 euro - that 's about $250! Vaporetto rides are great and you can afford lots of them.

7   Beware the "menu turistica" (tourist menu) - sometimes it's OK but sometimes it isn't. Check it out carefully in a restaurant before ordering.

8   Climb Vesuvius - most of the way in a local bus.

9   Have lots of fun and try lots of different things

  5. According to TripAdvisor here a list of top 10 Italy destinations:

    - Amalfi

    - Siena

    - Città del Vaticano

    - San Gimignano

    - Florence

    - Pompeii

    - Venice

    - Assisi

    - Positano

    - Rome

  6. I went to Venice not too long ago. Just see as much as you can but don't tire yourself out completely. The people on the sides of the streets with big bags are selling purses like Gucci, Fendi, and Prada. Buy those... you can't even tell they are knock offs. Try all the food you can. Go to Rome if you have a lot of time to spend there. Have Jelato!

    AND HAVE FUN!
