Can anybody help me interpret my situation, and what i can possibly do next?

I have recently completed the Irish Leaving certificate, and achieved 375 points through English, Biology, Maths, French, LCVP, Art and Home economics. (all at higher level except maths)

I had hoped, and was expected to do much better but due to a year of very poor health, and multiple problems, study was not my priority in 2007/8. I have since moved to the Uk, where I am from, and where my family live.

I have used conversion tables to figure out my results in the UCAS system, and using all of my subjects it comes to 276.

But it seems that British universities only allow three subjects to be presented for entry requirements. Is this true?

I had not intended to go to University until 2009, But if it is true, then I will more than likely repeat my exams. Is it possible, here, to re-take the final year of an A-level course? I would be happy to repeat a year but do not know whether it is possible to enter at the second year, (especially coming from the leaving certificate, a different, and foreign course)

I had every intention (and prospect) of going to Oxford or Cambridge, untill my studies went downhill halfway through the year.

Please can anybody tell me whether I can actually repeat a year or any other possibilities?

Thank you

  1. Leaving Certificate with a minimum of grades AAAABB at Higher / Honours level.

"But it seems that British universities only allow three subjects to be presented for entry requirements. Is this true?" - Only English Universities.

"I had every intention (and prospect) of going to Oxford or Cambridge, untill my studies went downhill halfway through the year." - Correct spelling "until".

I would recommend that you apply to a school and do the A-Levels.

Sorry this isn't much help, good luck.  :-)
