My mom won't let me wear a 2 piece swimsuit. (The ones that are kind of shaped like bras) she say's they're too revealing. EVERYBODY wears them. I told her I'm not trying to show off my body, It's easier to swim in. I feel embarrassed in a tankini. Help?

  1. Tell her that during the summer, you'd like to get a more even tan, rather than just having tanned arms and legs (if she says "Well no one is going to be seeing your body, so why would you need your entire body tanned?", then say "I know, mom, but it just makes me feel better when I look at myself in the shower. You have no idea how weird it is to see different parts of your body way darker than others.").

Or you can say that 2 piece swimsuits usually have cuter prints.

  2. haha, im 14 and my daddy used to make me wear a tshirt over my bathing suit, lol. not any more though. but he cant stand me wearing a bikini. he says thats too much skin for the perverts to look at. but i have a regular bikini that i wear at home in our own pool and i have a tankini and then another one piece that i wear when we go to the lake or basically any pool thats not ours, lol. parents just dont understand!

  3. LMAO - "It's easier to swim"... I don't buy that one, and neither would your Mom.

How old are you?  There are some two piece bathing suits that are less revealing.

  4. Maybe you could go shopping together and she can be with you when you try them on that way you can compromise a little.

  5. Okay, #1.

    "It's easier to swim in?"

That is completely ridiculous. Bikinis are harder to swim in, because the bottom part of the swimsuit keeps sagging down, because of the water.

Why do you feel embarrased in a tankini?

Many tankinis are really cute, and you're still young.

Your mom is right. Bikinis are too revealing, especially at your age. You don't necessarily have to stick with the whole suit, but they are safer and more comfortable. Your mom is protecting you from who knows what at the pool.

No, everybody DOES NOT wear bikinis. I'm 14 but I hate bikinis. I have a cute tankini and a whole suit in a pretty color and design. Save the more revealing swimsuits for when you get older.

If you have your own pool at home, then your mom shouldn't have any reason not to buy you a bikini. Heck, you could just swim naked.

  6. buy 1(secretly) put a tanktop on top of ur bathing suit and take off ur tanktop when shes not looking.

  7. not EVERYBODY. I don't. I wear a tankini. I like them better...

    13? Are you KIDding me?

Lol, you have a bf that is 17, want to wear a bikini... what else? you gonna tell us you are pregnant?

  8. at 13 there are a ton of pedophiles checking you out, and you don't even realize it. keeping it covered is just for your safety. and besides, bikinis come off if you jump in the water a certain way.. and that would give the pedophiles a show.

plus, if you're going swimming with friends at a beach or public pool without an adult there to watch over you guys.. you'd probably be more likely to be abducted by one of those pedophiles..

you can show off your body and conform to the bikinis when you're older.. for now, you're a kid, stay a kid and keep wearing a one piece or a tankini.

  9. She is just trying to protect you from the pervs! My daughter is only 8 and I still make her stay completly covered at the pool! It is getting harder and harder to find one piece suits though, and I think tankini's are adorable:)

  10. Thats really stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!~xoxo ally*
