Can anybody help me with wiring?

How can I wire two extra speakers to my 95 Grand Am, do i need to get any thing extra? Is there a site that can help me do this?

  1. you can add them by branching/splitting the speaker wires at the speakers or at the back of the radio, but you don't want to do that because

    it may get a little louder (but you are still working with the same amount of wattage from the radio) but the sound quality will suck because the radios internal amplifier is not strong enough to push the extra wattage so the sound will be distorted (distortion is the most common reason for speaker damage not over or under powering) and that will also cause the radio to run hot and that could damage it also

    so your best bet would be to add a small amp if your MUST add extra speakers or look into some replacement speakers with a high sensitivity because a speaker with a sensitivity rating that's 3 dB higher than another speaker's only needs half as much power to deliver the same amount of sound.


  2. are you putting them in the back of the car in the back window  if so just splice into the wires for the other two speakers back there. the radio might not have the output to handle the extra speakers though
