  1. I have just bought a Plasma 42" LG and the picture is far superior to the LCD I just got rid of, as for power consumption , mine has power saving settings and if you leave it on a static picture you can "clean" the screen of images.

    Plasma any day.

  2. Plasmas also burn into the tv casing a erie image over the orginal one and is very annoying

    check it out on wikipedia

  3. plasma screeen has a better viewing angle than lcd.

  4. the differences are more complex then a simple comparison...but here is the a simple breakdown: Plasma Tv's use sealed gasses, whereas LCD's use a liquid crystal, this is important for lifespan, LCD can be ran longer then plasma before needed replacement. as for picture quality, nowadays LCD is superior, and usually at a more affordable cost, prior to this last fiscal year, Plasma was popular because you could get them in larger sizes, it was rare to find an LCD bigger then 40 inches that could fit in your budget, that is why Plasma has a niche in the market still. as far as function/quality, you need to worry about contrast ratio, not if its plasma/lcd,

also, plasma uses upwards of 4x the amount of electricity, and they are considering bans overseas because of this. Plasma sales are plummeting, while LCD is raising, so market trend indicates that soon we will see plasmas become a thing of the past.

  5. Plasmas are dying technolgy, yet they both have pros and cons - I look at these things (repair) them all day, every day and heres what I think.

LCD PROS: Clearer picture, more colors, cooler running temperature, higher definitions are possible, cheaper to repair, low running costs

LCD CONS: slower picture speed, not as good for watching sport/action (although, it's less of a problem now with faster panels), Somewhat more expensive (again, prices are dropping)

Plasma Pros: Higher picture speed, more solid designs

Plasma Cons: Picture quality will be reduced in less amount of time (compared to LCD). Heavy (Compared to LCD), Expensive to run, hotter running temperature (Can cause picture burn, however, some models have built in "pixel shift" technology to prevent this)

The best option, go have a personal comparison at your closest retailer. Just don't let them talk you into high cost gold plated monster cables......... you can if you want, i don't care

  6. everything

  7. plasma has plasma in it, but an lcd has liquid crystal in it

  8. You can get big, big, big plasma. As big as you like but LCD only go up to around 48 inches.

  9. An LCD TV uses an LCD display to show the picture.  A Plasma TV has a plasma display.

  10. In the long run, You'd be better off with and LCD..I won't go into specifics because they already said most of the techie stuff...One thing you should be aware of, Once your Plasma TV breaks, BAM! Say goodbye to it as it cannot be fixed again..Talking long term here that's why I recommend LCD's...
