we dont want to pay a ridiculous amount of money but if its worth paying for then i wouldn't mind. if entertainment was provided all evening then that would be a bonus and worth paying for!!

  1. Check the Baths of Caracalla, near Roman Forum - there they used to do a carnival-style riot of an ancient Roman feast - big, beefy waiters dressed as Roman soldiers etc., great fun. Perhaps they still do, if so I wish I were there! Wherever you go New Years Eve it'll be pricey however. Rome's like that.

  2. Walk up the Spanish Steps and turn left. After a couple of hundred yards you'll find a place called Ciampini on the left hand side. I had a delightful lunch for 55 euros which, although the most expensive meal on that trip, was still pretty cheap compared to a stylish trat in the UK.

Ciampini, Viale Trinita dei Monti, Roma. tel 06 6785678

  3. if you're in rome then you can do away with the idea of a cheap meal, unless you can get a local to invite you around

  4. THERE is a restaurant called “Taverna dei mercanti”. Address: Piazza dei Mercanti 3/a.

    It's a very good place.

All the Trastevere restaurants are good.

    Enjoy

  5. When I was in Dublin for New Year's Eve. two years ago, I emailed the hotel & requested information regarding local restaurants.  I also asked them which ones they would recommend for that evening. They suggested one nearby the hotel which had entertainment & a price fixed menu. They also made the reservations for us.

    Good Luck & Enjoy!
