  1. Actually, Molly-Guppy crosses have never been fully proven, but Swordtails and Platies are a fairly safe bet, and it's quite likely they are in actuality speciated from the same fish.  The only well documented hybrids are Guppy-Endler's Livebearer crosses-- most Guppies in stores are actually hybrids to some degrees, as the cobra and lyretail patterns seen in Guppies can be attributed to Endler's lineage.  Pure Guppies and pure Endler's are FAR more rare and expensive than hybrids, so if you really wanted to make something out of the ordinary, and maybe make a profit on it, look into investing in a trio (male and 2 females) of wild Guppies or Endler's, which you shouldn't have any trouble locating on Aquabid.com: http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/a...

  2. You really cannot cross breed the fish.  What happens is you come up with a mule.  A fish that has a short lifespan if it lives and cannot reproduce.  This doesn't happen very often for this reason.  Mollies and mollies, guppies and guppies Platys and Platy's , Swordtails and swordtails, Four-Eyed Fish and four-eyed fish. onesided livebearers.  There are over 22 types of live bearers not many commonly kept in aquariums and are difficult to find.

Don't waste your time trying to cross them.  You will be dissapointed and have lots of dead fry on your hands.
