  1. I wouldn't go up there. That's just touristy stuff (you will be together there with Indian, Japanese and Chinese). Menus in the restaurant are written in Chinese, Japanese ...

Swiss usually prefer other mountains which are a bit cheaper and better. Instead of Jungfraujoch I would recommend you the Aletschgletscher (UNESCO world natural heritage - glacier)

  2. Group Reservations  25.09.2006

Bookings are subject to the following regulations:

Train reservations are required for groups from 10 persons

No reservations are required for individual travellers

Reservations can be made at the earliest 3 months in advance.

No reservations are possible for the Grindelwald-First Aerial Cableway

  3. I went up the Jungfrau in January.  All of the Swiss rail network can be booked through their website www.sbb.ch/en/index.htm  or Rail Europe www.raileurope.com.

However, it costs the same to book in advance as it does to turn up on the day & buy you're ticket at the station.  I've done loads of travelling on the Swiss Rail network & I've never not been able to get on a train because I haven't booked it in advance.

With regards to the cablecar, you just turn up at the base station & buy a pass on the day in the same way as you would a normal ski pass in the winter.

Theres usually trains from main stations such as Interlaken to small winter ski resorts every 15-30 minutes generally till 11pm so don't worry about getting stranded.

Obviously check the times for getting back before you jump on the train though & make sure you're at the station on time, as the trains always leave bang on time!

Good luck with the trip.  Its a beautiful part of the world!

  4. nope.. u dont need any advance booking.. just come to interlaken.. an evening before, buy the early morning jungfrau train ticket  from interlaken railway station ( its cheaper if u take an early morning train )..and enjoy ur journey.. it takes approx. 2.5 hours to reach there from interlaken.. the scenery is breathtaking.. bon voyage !!
