Can anybody tell me if you need just boarding pass if you arrive at stansted from dublin?thanks?

Yes, This is true, You will of course need some kind of official photo id for the airline itself though, but once you land you dont go through passport control (as you dont need one), you just have to show your boarding card. I went to Gatwick two weeks ago and this was the case, but its the same in all U.K airports with flights arriving from The Republic Of Ireland.
