  1. Well your in luck, not only am I am type 2 diabetic, I am also a former chef, and for main course, it does not mean a diabetic cannot eat all the same foods as non-diabetics, it just means there are some restrictions like portion size, sodium count, fat content, limiting sugar or other foods that can raise blood sugar levels.

I follow a caloric count diet setup by a dietitian, and try to maintain it, even when dining out I prefer the buffet places, not for large portions which I am not allowed but to choose the foods I like and in smaller portions.

I eat a 50/50 diet of veg based dishes and some meat, limit my dairy and egg consumption and the occasional sweet is fine, but sway more the sweetener based products, I was at a seminar and the doctor who spoke told us not to consume the vast 8 glasses of water a day they tell you, all you do is drown your tissues and case water gain and bloating, even stay way from diet soft drinks and other sweetened beverages they are loaded to, and coffee is fine in moderation, but it to can be harmful in both the water and caffeine interacting with meds and insulin.

So eat smart, choose right, lots of fruits, veg, lean meats and whole grains in bread and in other products, I eat oatmeal 2 times a week and have lowered my weight and cholesterol quite a lot.

  2. - Broiled/Grilled Salmon with steamed/sauteed vegetables and quinona or lentils

    - Chicken Stir-Fry ("fried" in olive oil) with bell peppers, onions, zucchini, squash, a top a bed of spinach & a side of whole grain brown rice (SMALL portion only, and make sure the rice has at least 2 grams of fiber per serving!)

    - Asparagus, Onion, Mushroom, Spinach sautee with either an extra lean ground beef burger (free-ranged meat is best) or an extra-lean sirloin steak

  3. Go to this site, and put it in your favorites. It's full of great diabetic recipes.
