  1. Other positions that might be mentioned.  Defensive specialist (DS) and Libero.

    The defensive specialist is a player that plays only back row.  Good passer and quick.

    The Libero is the same as the DS except even more.  They can spend almost every play on the back row.  A DS only plays half of the game.

  2. Well, we just call them right side hitter, middle hitter, setter, right back, middle back, and left back. These are just the basics though and they may vary. Hope you understand what I'm trying to say. Volleyball rocks!!!

  3. Just telling you... most people don't know the positions. You don't have much to worry about.

    Here's a chart:

    -------NET-------

       |_4_|_3_|_2_|

       |_5_|_6_|_1_|

    Setter: 2 {always takes the second ball}

    Middle Hitter: 3 {usually the tallest player}

    Outside Hitter: 4 {best all around player}

    Right side hitter/ Off setter: 1 {a strong setter and server willing to crash for a ball}

    Middle Back: 6 {best at passing... has to cover the most distance, so is probably fast!}

    Left Back: 5 {you know, i never actually figured out what attributes produced a left back player! but they have to be able to pass it a far distance and run after fly away balls!! its a fun, but tough spot to have}
