I am looking for B&B accommodation in the region of Geneva to Montreaux and beyond that is not as prohibitive as the Hotels.

Try the Youth Hostel or associated organisations, they are usually quite cheap, you can get your own room or a family room. The food is basic but very good, and the places are very clean.
