  1. are you sure that thats a word?! i thought its a place because i'd heard it in a bob dylan song..

    but i just checked in a dictionary and online and could'nt find it.. surprising.. i was sure its a place.. but apparently its not..lol

  2. The word is Arabic in origin.  I think it may mean to be a witness, or spread the word, in the sense of spreading Islam.

    Here is a sentence I found it in for context:

    "Why should not then a company from every party from among them go forth that they may apply themselves to obtain understanding in religion from Aimma Masoomeen (as]) in whose favour Haj is done and when they go back they should do "Tanzeer" from the knowledge they have gained from the traditions of Aimma so that other people can benefit from it and refrain from the sins."

    It is also a used as a name in Islamic societies.

    I'm not Muslim and I don't speak Arabic, so I can't be positive on that meaning, but it should be close.
