Can anybody tell whether Obama or McCain will end up a mandate to carry out their policy?

With a Democratic edge in congress that could be a very, very decisive matter. That could completely concentrate all government power to do good or even more harm. Seems like a pretty big deal to me.

I think the Dems will pick up seats in the House and Senate.  If its enough seats, that would give a definite edge to Obama for putting his proposals into action.

big deal or not we are still going to have a Republican president and a Democratic congress until 2012..I think it will be another lame duck congress with little being done for a long time..just like the New POPE

It would be less irksome to see someone elected president issue a mandate when they've won by MORE than the narrowest margin in history.
