Can anybody think of a logical reason why bull riding was started?

This is what I think happened: There was klavis and billy-sue, and klavis wanted to show off how brave he was to the entire trailer park, so he bet billy-sue that he could sit on top of that bull for longer than billy-sue could say "hickory stump" which happens to take 8 seconds.

How do you think it started?

its just a variated version  of gladiators duking it out in a stadium exept in for cowboys and not to such an extreme

Well, it was a man thing trying to see who has the bigger balls, and most of them were intoxicated, and in the end ended up with damaged goods and no babies.

Probably because the sadistic side of people loves it when other people who are dumb enough to ride a bulls get mauled.

Well the sheep got kinda boring, so the cowboys tryed to have s*x with bulls, and the bulls aint having none of it. See bull riding was started by a buncha dumb redneck cowboys

Bored cowboys.  The first bull riding started when cowboys from different ranches would compete against each other using their skills after the cattle drives..  Bull riding was by far the most popular.as it was the most dangerous.
