Cannes is unbelievably beautiful, and contrary to popular belief, it is a really small town, so you can travel on foot most of the time.  Don't go during the festival though.

try annecy it's wonderful ! there is a lake encircle with mountain and a very nice old village ;you can go very quickly from paris to annecy by tgv (very fast train) .

There are two beautiful places, one is called Chambord and the other one is called Burdeaux.  These two are in France and they are small but beautiful.  If you like the Caribbean you can visit St. Marteen. Half the island is french and the other half is dutch. Both are beautiful.  Have fun!!!
