my daughter needs one for work experience at a child care centre.

  1. Why isn't your daughter writing a cover letter? If she's getting a job, it seems like she should be able to compose a letter.

    basic outline:

    paragraph 1 - why you want job

    paragraph 2 - your specific qualifications

    paragraph 3 - thank reader and let that person know you'll be following up

    Dear Mr. Blah:

    Tell what position you want and where you heard about it.  State interest in position.

    Give brief description of relavent education and experience.  Should be about 4-6 sentences at minimum.

    Example for last paragraph  "Thank you for your time and consideration.  I have enclosed my resume which further outlines my experience.  I look forward to meeting with you about the position.  Please feel free to contact me at (123) 456-7890 if you have any further questions.  If I have not heard from you by May 1st, I will contact you on May 2nd.  Again, thank you."
