When I want to dance to doo-w*p music at an outdoor concert, is it O.K. to make up my dancing as I go along, or do most people do dancing that follows a set of rules?

  1. Make it up Itsme, we all make it up, (& more beers I have the more I make up;-)

  2. There are several types of dance well-suited for the music. I'd recommend one of them if you know one. Otherwise, it's perfectly fine to make a fool of yourself if you wish.

You might also take geography into consideration. If, for instance, you're drinking beer on the beach at Myrtle Beach, SC, it would be a shame not to dance Carolina shag or something that at least looks like it. Keep in mind that the "rules" are not proscriptive but the dances developed from kids making stuff up when the music was new.
