Why was the New Testament written in Greek if the authors were Hebrew?

  1. It was written in Greek because Greek was the lingua franca of the Roman Empire, not Aramaic. It was law, basically.  


  2. Jesus was a Hellenistic Jew, who spoke both languages.

    Alexander the Great had already conquered the Known World. Greek was spoken widely.

    Egypt spoke Greek too.

    Greek was also the Formal Language in written form.

    Romans spoke Latin but WROTE in Greek.

    Therefore Biblical scholars WROTE in Greek.

  4. The Old Testament was written to the Jews, therefore, it was written in their language - Hebrew (Aramaic)

    The New Testament was written to the Gentiles, who mostly spoke Greek, at that time.  

    Just like now, God wanted to be understood, so he spoke their language.
