To what measures do Hrothgar and his nobles resort to rid themselves of Grendel?

i've searched everywhere else..

  2. We aren’t told. That’s why you can’t find an answer. The only medieval account of Grendel’s attack is in the single Beowulf manuscript. What it doesn't tell about Grendel will probably never be known.

    It only tells us that at the time of the story, twelve years after the first Grendel attack, Hrothgar's folk have given up even staying in the mead house at night.

    One might presume that some of Hrothgar’s folk (and some outlanders like Beowulf and his party) have previously made attempts to defeat Grendel or to track him down, especially soon after the attacks began, but that all such attempts have failed.
