Can anyone answer this finanical aid question?

I receive independent financial aid for school because of my family situation. Every semester, financial aid automatically pays for my classes, which takes place online. Whatever is left over, I receive in a check about a month later.

Last summer, I took 2 summer courses and financial aid automatically paid for them and I received the left over money later in a check, like usual. Fall semester went as usual as well.

This summer, however, I'm taking 6 courses over a 12 week period and the payment was due last night at midnight and it still says I owe money and the financial aid process for summer 2008 is "pending, no action required".

I'm really worried because I need to take these classes this summer and I'm afraid I'll be dropped from the classes if they're not paid right away.

I plan on calling on Monday since it's the weekend and I'm sure I wouldn't be able to get a hold of anyone but why would this happen?

  1. This is one explanation to your prob. Financial aid is only offered for a certain amount of time. Actually they count the semester/quarters you attend. If you attend more than that time, you won't be receiving any financial aid. Another explanation is that since you are taking a summer course, it is a new school year and you haven't been approved for financial aid for that year.

The best thing to do is to call in order to clear things up to the financial aid office. It's the smartest move.

    Hope the best!

  2. Do you have to do something special for Summer classes? I know for my school I had to fill out a form to have my Grants be used for the Summer also.  If anything I think as long as you have Financial Aid that you will get, they wont drop you from the classes.  Thats how it is with my school.  Because I have Grants, if its not finished processing by the time the payment is due, they will go ahead and extend when my payment is due, because I was already excepted for the grants...Get what im saying?
