  1. Yes.

The absurd begs for the light of reason.

  2. To give their point of view.  I believe btw.

  3. The people who ask the questions usually are believers. They want their opinions backed up.Personally my answers are directed  to the people who really do wonder.I've always told people there are no monsters under the bed.No boogeymen in the cellar or ghosts in the attic. There's no vampires, werewolves or pixies in the woods.I've told my kids it's fun to pretend, read books, watch movies but it's not real. There's plenty of real mystery in the world.I don't want them buying into the nonsense they read here.If you don't want other opinions just ask in Mythology.Ask me not to answer and I will not. Here, it's open season on silliness.

  4. they do it to get points... and cause they think they have all the answers...

  5. To try to teach people to think critically and skeptically about such claims.  Maybe someone who is agnostic about paranormal beliefs is reading this section - if they only read statements of believers, they may fall into the trap of believing something without really thinking about it.

Follow this simple rule and you can never go wrong:

Be skeptical about everything you hear, read, and see (in magazines, newspapers, on TV or the Internet) - critically examine the facts, claims, evidence, lack of evidence, and possible source of bias in all information.  Ask questions and do not accept knowledge that is based only on authority.

  6. Bored

  7. people who dont believe just dont believe yet they want to know more.

  8. For the same reason that people who aren't religious answer questions about religion: people have opinions on both sides of the topic and are more than willing to offer their views on whatever the topic may be.

  9. for points and fun

  10. just in case they're wrong

  11. to get points...

  12. Because even people who don't believe in the paranormal can be amused by all its camp and silliness. It also offers an opportunity to teach the value of critical thinking and to share your opinions. And since paranormal has been inexplicably placed in the Science & Math category, why wouldn't the science minded people answer these questions?

  13. Because people always believe that their opinoins are relevant.  Besides, If you ask what people think about the knocking sound in your roof or the weird lights in you backyard then you are going to get answers from people who think it is something other than the paranormal.

  14. Because inwardly they do believe and are frightened by the total lack of knowledge of paranormalities. So they read up on it, to learn more, and protect themselves from a possible occurrance. When people bring up the topic it induces the fear and so the need to read helps them cope.

  15. They  think the subject is of interest so they look, but the questions are always the same thing.

Have you had a paranormal experience. Can you share your experience.

    has anyone seen a ghost.

help! there is a ghost in my house what do I do?

If you are a psychic, I am repeating a name right now what is it?

    IS A OUIJA BOARD EVIL?

OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN

So I figure since they are here checking it out and it is stupidly the same, they get a laugh out of messing with a question or two.

I am hearing voices in my head and I know they are contacting me with information.

  16. None belief is as much of a religious conviction as any other type of zealous religion. This is in part to defend their own beliefs of what they feel is knowledge.

For instance most scientist rejected the theory of evolution when it was first presented because it contradicted their world view. Quantum physics is currently showing that Einstein was incorrect on several key points like entanglement. This frightens many that learned that entanglement was not possible.

This is why most (there are exceptions) do not conduct their own research to answer questions like what conditions (personal or environmental) that are associated with people seeing ghost (or what they experience as ghost) but actively call people liars, drug users, and mentally unstable even when this contradicts actual studies of the phenomena.

The good news is zealous skeptics (debunkers) are mostly ignored by the research and academic community of parapsychologist. For instance debunkers claim there is no evidence for ESP and parapsychology has already moved on to process oriented research (how does it work) versus proof oriented research (does it work).

Despite the skeptics claim of science and reason no skeptical organizantion has yet been elected to membership in the American Association for the Advancement of Science which the Parapsychological Association has been a member of since 1969. The PA does have real skeptics as members of their organization that criticize research, suggest improvements, and follow rules of science versus starting with a belief and doing everything to prove their beliefs.

    Michael John Weaver, M.S.

  17. Skeptics are not people who do not believe, they are people who require evidence.

They are the people who will find natural causes for things, and reasons why things are not paranormal.

This is a vitally important part of all aspects of science. Since this is in the science and math section, it stands to reason that a theory or hypothesis with no evidence to support it would get battered by answerers browsing through this section.

The bottom line is, if you want to throw out logic and reason, which are not friends of the paranormal world, then all you have is a fantasy world of your own creation. This doesnt sit very well with the science and math crowd.

  18. Because they stuck the paranormal section in the science section as if it had any credibility.  Move it to entertainment, and you won't see any of us again.  But as long as it is here pretending to be science, we'll be here pointing out the fact that there's nothing to it.

  19. All of the above answers had some truth as to why those that don't believe, read and answer questions about paranormal.  The topic of paranormal is considered "evil" and against most organized religions, and is something that they must "fight". Also paranormal experiences are unable to be proven by scientific measures.  So one is never right or wrong.  The attraction? Our energy of course. :o)
