Can anyone answer what the story is if you are from south america living in spain.?

i think south american countries since they have close links to spain only have to reside their for 3 years and not the usual 5 years as for other people.. can anyone tell me what happens when the time approaches for to get your papers. you get your work permit is it, and then using that you get your papers, im slightly confused, i want to know because i am with someone living in spain from south america and i am confused as to the process of getting the papers, if anyone who has been in this situation can answer it would be very helpful, thank you all..

  1. Peruvians only have to wait two years.  Try asking Immigrations.


  2. If they can prove a parent or grandparent was a spanish citizen they are entitled to spanish citizen

    otherwise if the person overstayed their tourist visa they will have to wait 2 years without leaving spain and if after two years they can prove that they have a job they are entitled to spanish residency card
