  1. Yes, but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing.

I actually like a good cz instead of moissanite.

However, these days with sales, etc. you can get real diamonds and gold for the same price as either of those, too, if it's price which is the problem. If moissanite is a preference, that's fine too - I know from being on Answers, that some women prefer it.

  2. definitely.  Moissanite has a green tint to it.  It also sparkles differently.  It's a beautiful sparkle for sure, but to me it's a fake sparkle.

I always recommend diamonds for engagement rings because if you get a cz, you'll have to replace it every year or two because they cloud and scratch.  I know moissanite is harder, and I have no idea how it lasts, but I do know I can DEFINITELY tell a difference.

  3. I can but think moissanite is actually prettier.

  4. um.. I had a jeweler who had my CZ ring under a jeweler's microscope once. He wrote up a repair order for my broken prong. As I was leaving, I said something like "you do know that it's a CZ, right?" He didn't have a clue.

The Jewelers sometimes don't even know... and only the people who I've told know mine is fake. (I do have over a karat of diamond chips in it... we put a CZ in it as a "temporary" thing to make it more affordable because we were planning a wedding at the time and never got it upgraded)

  5. I have a moissanite for my engagement ring and no one I've met (including several jewelers) can tell a difference. When put side by side and moissanite is going to have more sparkle and fire, and actually makes the diamond look poor. If you ask me moissanite is the way to go. It's far more affordable than a diamond, plus I think they look better.

  6. Yes. I was considering it for a new ring for my anniversary and went to look in person. What you can't see in the store but can in natural light is that the moissanite has a lot of color to it. Almost like a rainbow prism affect. It's not a trait that even a high quality diamond would have. My friends would be able to tell the difference.

  7. Absolutely. There's a huge color difference.

  8. Yep.
