  1. okay, my first disney park was disney world and although disneyland is much smaller, there are several things that i liked. and honestly after all was said and done, i have gone back.

First, ITS NOT DISNEY WORLD. don't compare it, take it for what it is and have fun.  it was also the first park. until then, Walt did not know if his idea would work. before disneyland opened the media was refering to the park as Disney's Folley.

taking that into consideration, yes, the park is smaller. and some of the rides seemed cramped but it still so much fun. you have to go on the Indiana Jones Ride. that is right, they have a RIDE! a couple of the classics are a little better/longer in Disneyland.

another thing that i liked. everything is together. Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure face each other. so you can walk from one park to another.  and downtown disney is right next door. so you can just walk there too. and if you cross the street you have McDonalds as well as other restaurants if you don't want to eat at the park.

what struck me as od is that i am very familiar with Disney World. i mean, i even know where all the bathrooms are! i know where every store is. and when i walked into disneyland i was like "that store is not supposed to be there" and stuff like that.

one last thing. that was the park that Walt lived and were he worked. you are walking the same streets he walked. have fun.

  2. You will not be disappointed by Disneyland!  Indeed, it is way smaller and not as many rides, but the park is so nostalgic that it's just fun to be in.  Come on...this is Walt Disney's original park!!!  Many of Disneyland's rides are the same as Magic Kingdom, but there are nuances that you, as a WDW fan, will have a fun time picking out.

Here are some things you have to see that WDW doesn't have:

Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters is way more fun because the guns offer more flexible to shoot.

Space Mountain has a fabulous update!!!

If you are traveling with kids, be sure to go on the Alice in Wonderland dark ride!

It's still the classic Tiki Room that Walt made, not the "under new management" at WDW

Go to California Adventure-they have great thrill rides like California Screamin', and go to the Mission Tortilla factory to get free tortillas!

Overall, you will notice how close together everyone thing; you can easily walk from any of the 3 hotels through Downtown Disney and into either of the 2 parks.  It's not like Disney World where everything is spread out.

Remember, slow down and just enjoy all the little details and you will appreciate that you are in Walt Disney's original theme park.  Have fun!

  3. Disney world, is so much more than the magic kingdom. Theres epcott, and all that jazz, which you know!

Disneyland, is small compared to dw. obviously.

i've heard ppl say, that when they first get there, they see wdw as a mansion, and dl a shack.

idk. i love it at dl.

  4. DisneyWORLD is the premier park.  They ran out of land in CA, so that park is much smaller.

You'll be disappointed if you're expecting the same experience as the Orlando parks.

  5. Don't forget that California Disney is a lot older than Orlando, and there aren't a many theme parks all clumped together. You are going to have the same attractions as the one in FL, but I think the Haunted Mansion in CA is better than FL's.

One of the things you'll notice in the CA dianey is that the fast food places aroud the park tend to swing to the Mexican food variety.

Seeing as how it is in Anaheim  you can also take in Knotts Berry Farm, and it isn't too far from San Diego if you want a great Aquarium adventure, you can hop across the border to Mexico also and pick up fantastic deals on silver jewelery and stuff you wouldn't see in the US.

  6. Well, the first big difference when you are comparing Disneyland and Disney World is the fact that Disney World is much, much bigger.  It is the second Disney Park built.  There are many "connected" parks to Disney World.

Disneyland is the original, opened in 1955.  It is smaller, but has Downtown Disney, Disney's California Adventure, and the Disneyland Park.  Part of Disney's California Adventure is being under construction, but you can still ride all of the rides.

For your very first trip to Disneyland, I recommend this book -

"Disneyland & Southern California with Kids (8th Edition)" by Michael and Trisa Knight.

This book is very useful, it tells you about all of the rides, and gives you tips about getting there and what to do when you get there.
