  1. Many of the ideas that were fought for in the 1960s are currently accepted today.

Ideas taken for granted today that were fought for back then

    Civil Rights

Adultery and free s*x without punishment

    Interracial marriage

Music that promoted promiscuity and freedom

However, both the 1960s and today fought for g*y rights, and so far only recently have g**s been given some rights.

Today, drugs are a lot stronger than they were back in the 1960s. One blunt of marijuana is a lot stronger than one blunt of marijuana in the 1960s. Drugs are also much prevalent in today's society than they were back in the 60s and although they are not legal, they are getting more accepted in the mainstream. e.g. It is not considered rebellious today to smoke pot the way it was back in the 1960s.

Today, we fight in Iraq and are fighting for a lower drinking age of 18 just like they did back in the 60s during the Vietnam War.

  2. Keep in mind that the 1960s was actually three decades of change in one.

    1960 to 1963, 1964 to 1967, 1968 to (really) 1972.

This question is like asking "Define the universe. Cite two examples. Use the back of the paper if you have to."

  3. What are you trying to compare?  Like what concepts?

Okay, in both time frames we(as in America) were involved in "unpopular" wars.

Back then, they had the sexual revolution.  Right now we have AIDS at the highest numbers in over 10 years.

In both, we have older generations worried about what the future holds because of the teens and young adults of that time(but that could be said about every decade.)

Right now, we are remaking some of their television shows and movies and sampling their music in new music.  We are even bringing back some of their popular game shows.

Back then, the counterculture was all about peace and love in the mid-late 60s and now I am seeing sayings with peace and love or peace signs all over clothing.

I could go on and on.

  4. You got some good points in some of the other answers already.  I'll add my points too:

1960's:  Massive optimism, growing economy in developed countries, didn't have to think about the third world, and optimism especially in science & technology,

we could get products / chemicals as a solution to every problem, or if it wasn't invented yet, it would be, soon.  We put man on the moon and back to earth safely, computers became more electronic and more useful, pesticides and herbicides fixed agricultural problems, food supply increased, pennicylin seemed invincible and became more widely used and solved most health problems, contraceptive pills let people have s*x without unintended pregnancies, solutions to every problem!  And they didn't worry about environmental and health consequences of chemicals like pesticides, herbicides, tobacco smoke, leaded gasolines, etc...

Now we are all conscious about chemical additives in our foods, environmental and health consequences of residues of pesticides, herbicides, and cross-contamination of germs from other people, and we know penycilin is not invincible anymore.  We are more realistic now, more hopeful that if we change for the better, maybe we'll survive and keep the planet liveable;  we are less overly-optimistic, less care-free.
