When I found out that one of the residents had advanced degrees from Harvard my understanding of the incident fell apart.

That doesn't fit the the whole hill billy outlaw profile of the militia movement.

  1. They weren't a hillbilly outlaw group or a militia.  They were an apocalyptic Christian cult.

They were convinced that David Koresh got messages directly from God.  When the ATF and FBI raided the complex he convinced them that this was the final battle and the beginning of the apocalypse.

Mistakes were made on both sides but in the end it was unavoidable because the FBI and ATF usually work to defuse a situation and these people were convinced it was a final battle to the death.

At any point they could have walked out with their hands up in the air.

David Koresh had s*x with 12 year old girls and their fathers and mothers were happy to let him do it.  They were brainwashed and deluded people.

  2. Hillbilly outlaw profile????  For real?  Because it happened in Texas and not Ohio???  Basically, they were hoarding some pretty serious firepower - illegally purchased.  The ATF wanted to go in to see, they said no and all h**l broke loose.  The "militia movement" side of it was that they wanted to be a nation of their own and not held accountable for breaking any of our nation's laws.  Easy as 1-2-3.  Talk with the KKK, they have some VERY highly educated, well-known, well-placed members.......

  3. I can't "decipher" the Waco Texas massacre, but neither can I understand what having a degree from Harvard has anything to do with the massacre.

I wasn't aware a "hillbilly outlaw profile" had anything to do with Waco.

  4. Can anyone decipher Waco?

  5. They were a cult.  Cults aren't good as they don't mesh with society.  So they were killed.
