Sociology essay needs practical examples of deviance.

Google defines deviance as: a form of behaviour which is considered to violate society's norms and therefore to be unacceptable

I wonder if we have any forms of deviance in here!!

  1. Deviamce is behavior that violates significant social norms. To be labeled as deviant one must be detected by the community by comminting a deviant act, and second they must be stigmatized. For example: Cars of people convicted of drinking and driving migt a have a sticker on their car as a warning and humiliation.

  2. Deviance just mean straying from the norm or the accepted standard.   Specific examples depend on what area of life you choose for the examples.

A lot of people who deviate today object to being recognized as such.  I call that dishonest.  If you want to stray form the norm, admit it.  Don't pretend you aren't.  I have more respect for someone who doesn't expect others to approve of whatever they wish to do.

  3. behaviour that a society would percieve as wrong that goes against the norms. it is not actually breaking the law but it is frowned upon

    for example urinating in public

i think anyway, dont know if there is actually a law against it!

  4. sure.............

  5. ideally, a state or condition markedly different from the norm

something which sets you apart from the mobb.............

  6. Trolling on Yahoo Answers is a form of deviance.

  7. Me. A 56 year old man looking at the "Am i pretty" pictures category. I look at the young hotties. I am a perv and a deviant!
