  1. Moderate breezes.

  2. Yes I'm sure someone can.

  3. Completely clear skies, no clouds (I wouldn't risk it)

Nice, windy day where the wind is consistent and comes from the same direction. (The kind of day where you step outside and you think "a kite would really take off in this" or the kind of day where your hair flies all over the place if your back is to the wind)

Sailing is better on the ocean than on a lake because the wind is more consistent, and does not change direction as much.

  4. Relatively cool day with a couple clouds in the sky (I don't know about you...but I can't stand roasting in the sun all day, and not all sailboats have canvas in the cockpit)

Wind! Lots of it (well, within reason)...and in the direction you want to travel!

At the same time, you want the water as smooth as possible. Definitely check the wave conditions before heading out. We once were coming home with 6-8 footers (the boat was over 40 feet) and in that, even if you aren't the type to get seasick...

I hope this means you're getting out on the water...have fun!

  5. Nice clear sky with good visibility,

    steady, strong breeze,

a bit choppy (makes it more fun!!)

    and a high tide.
