  1. You simply cannot describe the feeling.

I personally believe that the GF atmosphere has gone down in recent years as so many people are there for corporate reasons or through competition. The best games are when the crowd almost sells out and all supporters are there because they want to be like the traditional ANZAC Day match (Essendon v Collingwood).

But even the matches that are not packed to the rafters if it is an awesome game and the rivalry is deep it can be great too.

  2. Um, they are usually loud apart from when you go to a WCE or Freo game coz a whole two supporters will go. but yea its normally fun to go to.

  3. OK, the greatest day of the year is not the GF but Anzac day because of the sheer drama of it all. 100 000 people almost.

We have the pre match concert and then 2 minutes silence is called in remembrance. This huge crowd reacts almost like a waiting leopard, there is not complete silence because you can hear people moving and in fact breathing, the ones closest - and at the end of the two minutes a rumble becomes a growl and then a roar as people end the two minutes' hush.

And the match, no matter what the form of Collingwood and Essendon, continues the excitement of the first bounce. Any action gets a tremendous voice from the crowd, and the umpires seem to do better than usual - maybe they don't want  a crowd that size against them?

It is an energising and humbling experience to be a speck in this crowd. And you can get it only at the MCG!

  4. oh mate it would be absaloutely great.

    very loud and aggressive

specially if its a close game with a important match (collingwood essednon anzac day)

you can feel the adrenaline pumping through your body

your on the edge of your seat

you really need to go to the toilet lol

  5. cold weather

    warm beer

    cold pies

    expensive seats

  6. Yes, it's an atmosphere of sore backsides from sitting on hard seats; lining up in smelly toilets if one really needs to go; buying extremely expensive junk food if one is really hungry; paying excess for ordinary beers; queuing up; lining up; searching for seating; sitting next to some foul mouthed yobbo; watching your team lose; then shuffling out of the ground; walking back into the CBD - or catching the train & being packed in like sardines (at least you don't have to pay for your ride as one can't move to get to the ticket dispenser); ......

Then when you go to work on Monday you brag to all your mates about what a great time you had!
