I don't understand if he's saying that Teddy/Andrew regressed back into his own world or if its a lie within a lie. I've re-read the chapter a few times and I'm still confused.

  1. Madam, for the convenience of both the questioner and for the one who replies, it is better to put at least that the paragraph from where you are asking may be reproduced . Because hunting for the whole ebook for shuitter island is a laborious task, if at we find it . After all this is not a problem for us but for you. At least make it easier for someone to answer. I found eventually the book on web . It seems to be having just four chapters of about 72 and odd pages , so you see ! What a waste of time for all of us.

However, from the phrase that you have quoted it would seem to mean in this psychological and psychiatric's world that :

Teddy retired in his own world far from reality; it is an illusion and thus a lie. it a double lie, because everythuing is like a giant unreal bubble which is going to burst, and everything init is necessarily also a false reality and thus a lie within a lie.
