Kosovo, Bosnia and a couple of other places separated from Serbia and the West went to war to protect their right to self determination. South Ossetia separates from Georgia and the west screams territorial integrity. I'm real confused Georgia or the USA can use force to make people stay in political unions and nobody else can? Nobody is allowed to defend them selves from western imperialism and sneak attacks?

  1. He is half way to there...  Russia is trying to save the influence on Post soviet Republics, but these republics invaded 90-70 years ago Know know price of Russian hegemony and slavery and are trying to escape it by becoming NATO members, they hope that NATO will Protect them.

If you See National Interests Of Russia, Proved By Duma in 2001 you'll see on statement, that Russians National interest is to become center in multipolar World and spread its influence on Caucasus, Eastern Europe and they central Asia.

In fact National interests of Post soviet Countries (about becoming NATO members) intervenes with Russians National Interest and that causes Conflict (war). If these countries Become NATO member than Russia won't have any influence and will lose it's national interest, that is most important think for any country.

Russia Claims to be Democratic (according to Freedom house it's democracy level is quite Poor and is falling every year),so it can't just go in another country and invade it (spread influence by putting there puppet government) and is seeking for reasons or Creating Reasons. Russia Provocated Georgia By killing it's Soldier in S. Ossetia conflict Region and by shooting Georgian Villages in the Region. Georgian government lost Temper and responded on aggression. Russia had already prepared militaries as was planning this provocation long before and began invading Georgia, it's main Roads, Railways, ports..

    Russia Hoped to:

    1) Overthrow Democratic government and put their puppets Loyal to PutMed.

    2) Underline the fact that it has a power and Russians Militaries are strong enough to conquer a country (in this case Tiny Georgia)

    3) Show Nato that they are to accept Country with serious threats that puts hole Nato to threat and in this way frighten tham.

    4) To Show the world that only pipeline that doesn't cross Russia and goes to Europe through Georgia isn't as safe as thay sought.

Russia is becoming Evil Empire and if it won't be able to satisfy it's ambitions and appetite as a revenge probably will become partner with Iran and N. Korea (they sell lot's of Armour already there)

  2. You are correct, this situation is much more complicated than the media is presenting it. Putin is a bad dude, and Georgia is an ally, but it's really quite complicated...

  3. all facts in Wikipedia

  4. Bravo! Now I am sure that you are a Serbian nationalist. "Repeat the lie 100 times and it will become the truth"

FIRST! of all: "Kosovo, Bosnia and a couple of other places" ( I know for sure that you mean Croatia and Slovenia) definitely "DID NOT SEPARATE FORM SERBIA". All that "places", including Serbia were independent Republics, forming together Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Pressed by increasing Serbian nationalism in 1980ies and Serbian war operations in 1990ies, lead by persecuted criminals Milosevic, Kardzic and general Mladic,  people from those republics voted separation from SFRY, turned to democracy and have elected their own governments.

Being a Serb nationalist, you and your people as well as your government, have always relied on Russian support, so it's completely normal that you cannot comprehend that Russians are the bad guys in any case.

If you were really interested in answer to your question, you would not start it with a blunt lies, but you would try to find some history facts about S:O, Georgia, oil and gas pipelines, Chechnya as well as  Russian and American (NATO) interests in the region.

Further more, West did not went to war to protect our self determination. If West did, then Serbian slaughter of Srebrenica ppl would never happen, there would be no Serbian contration camps all over Bosnia and Hezegovina, most of all there would never be 5 year long siege of Sarajevo and Republika Srpska would never even exist for it is ethnically cleansed territory of Bosnia and Hezegovina, cleansed by Serbian warlords and criminals, and now populated by Serbs only.

There is only one truth in your question: You really are confused and I have already spent too much of my time on you.

Read some quality history books instead of asking stupid questions.

  5. Russia is not the bad guy. You are right. Georgia started the whole mess, since they will not let South Ossetia re-unite with North Ossetia, as they have wanted to ever since the collapse of the Soviet Union. Therefore, they have found an ally in Russia, who attacked Georgia only after Georgia shelled and attacked South Ossetia. That was a big mistake by Georgia.

  6. i thought russia was the one who invaded georgia.. and thats why president bush wants russia to pull their troops out of georgia....

  7. Shush, the west say they are bad guys...

Honestly, its always been this way.  Rivals do it(its bad), if they do it(it's justified)

  8. Georgian forces supposedly entered South Ossetia to take care of some separatists, which according to them were making attacks into the border of Georgia. It didn't attack the place itself.

No idea if it's true or not for sure, there's a lot of propaganda flying about these days.

  9. Because the Russians armed the separatists and told them when to provoke the Georgian response.

How do you think the Russian military was able to be on the move already when the Georgians tried to crack down on the separatists?

I do understand your point about the former Yugoslavia, and it is troubling... but I'm trying to look at both sides here.  There's enough blame to go around, but I think Russia moving past South Ossetia (and the other province, I can't recall the name offhand) and into the main part of Georgia disproves their claims of only wanting to protect the Ossetians.
