Question:

Can anyone explain the difference between Roland Garros surface last year and what its like this year ?

I know ive posted similar questions and thanks for the people who answered. Its just im not getting the right answer lol How much faster is it this year? or is it just roughly the same.

  1. Well the clay courts at RG have always been slow. They usually pile up the clay and water them heavely so the ball slows right down on impact. They could only speed it up really but I haven't heard anything about changing it?


  2. They make this year more compact and dense. It will be faster a little bit.

I'm not sure where I heard it - I think Rafa, Djok or R-Fed may have mentioned it in one of their press conferences at Hamburg, but there is talk that RG is trying to speed up their courts this year. The courts won't be as quick as the courts were at Hamburg during Rafa's match against Djokovic (apparently it was due to humidity), but perhaps faster than last year at RG.
