Can anyone explain the sky tonight?

Question

Theres been alot of random lights and lighting but no thunder

as well, some stars were changing color

and alot were flickering

there were red clouds

whats going on?

hon i'm in ky and earlier it rained and the whole sky was like an orange color and then about 30 minutes later it was purple. so i'm not sure whats going on either hope someone knows.

In some areas, this phenomenon is called "heat lightning"

It is used for the faint flashes of lightning (on the horizon or other clouds) from distant thunderstorms, but due to distnace there are no accompanying sounds of thunder.   It is called heat lightning was named because it often occurs on hot summer nights.

The flickering of the stars is due to atmospheric turbulence, and if there are distant storms the atmosphere will be more turbulent than normal.
