  1. Human civilization is type 0.  I've never heard of type 4, but here's what you're looking for.

  2. *I've already answered your previous questions on 1, 2, and 3 civilizations, but I had already included info on other types so here it is*

I just gave an answer about the Kardashev scale a few days ago.

Type 1: A civilization puts all the energy reaching the Earth's surface to use

Type 2: A civilization puts all the energy coming from its solar system's star to use

Type 3: A civilization puts all energy produced in their galaxy to use

Mankind is Type 0 as we have yet to make full use of all of Earth's energy sources. Altering the scale puts mankind at about Type 0.7 as I have heard, but this sounds too high to me.

Some have also suggested adding a Type 4 for harnessing all the power in a cluster of gallaxies or a Type 5 for an entire wall of galaxies.

Personally I find the scale a little far fetched. Type 1 seems plausible but harnessing all of a star's energy seems implausible. A dyson sphere could do it but I find a dyson sphere to be similarly impossible. Harnessing the energy of every star in a galaxy just seems ridiculous. But what do I know, I'm only a scruffy primate.

  3. The Kardashev Scale rates civilizations based on their energy output.

    Roughly, there are 3 "types":

    Type I: 1.74×10^17 W

    Type II: 3.86×10^26 W

    Type III: 10^37 W

    Sagan's more specific formula:

It's assumed that civilizations will supposedly grow like this:

Type I: Utilizes the energy output of one planet

Type II: Utilizes the energy output of a star and its planets.

Type III: Utilizes the energy of an entire galaxy, the blackholes, density waves, stars, planets, etc. in it.
