When I have a breakout, sometimes people will ask why I have these welts on my skin. I want a simple explanation that I can provide them with.It also wouldn't hurt for me to know exactly what is going on with me since the only info that I can find can only be understood by those who have gone through 8 years of med school.

  1. I understand how you feel! I have the same thing and I don't have a good answer.  When people ask me I call it a chronic hives condition.

I had poison ivy really bad a few years ago, and my skin swelled so badly everywhere that it left me with deep tissue scarring.

  2. I have it as well. it's basically an over-reaction of your skin. You get increased blood flow in areas that have been touched, and it just over-reacts. You know how if you use something sharp and rub it across your skin, you'll get a red line where you did it. Well, for people with dermographism, the response is alot more sensitive and you can get hives and swelling or bumps. It can be frustrating, but can br treated with anti-inflammatory medications from your doctor. Good luck!
